About Us
The Friends of Camp Hollis (FOCH), a not-for-profit support system for the camp, was incorporated in 1997 and received its tax exempt status in 1999. In its early years FOCH worked closely with staff administration to determine what financial support was most needed. Projects included installing a new indoor fireplace, planting shrubbery, and offering financial support for those in need.
In 2002 the county of Oswego was faced with major reductions in its tax base caused by the departure of large industries, an accompanying rise in unemployment rates and changing New York State regulations forcing all county departments to reduce their budgets. While Camp Hollis was spared having to close its doors, it was directed for the first time in its history to develop a sliding scale fee structure. Since then FOCH has focused on providing full and partial scholarships for area families in need so children may attend summer camp.
In recent years we have led fundraising initiatives to replace the camp playground, build a state-of-the-art climbing wall, place gravel on some of the trails, and continue to fund hundreds of scholarships. Anything is possible with the Camp Hollis Spirit!
